Resilience through Remembrance.

Who Are Gold Star Spouses of America?

Gold Star Spouses of America, Inc. was founded in 2024 to ensure that all surviving spouses, regardless of gender, receive the support, recognition, and advocacy they deserve. The organization was created out of a need for inclusivity, acknowledging that surviving spouses come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. It serves as a unifying voice, advocating for legislative changes, access to benefits, and emotional support for those left behind.

By fostering a strong community, Gold Star Spouses of America, Inc. helps grieving spouses navigate the complexities of military survivor benefits, mental health resources, and financial assistance. Additionally, the organization plays a vital role in educating the public about the sacrifices of fallen service members and the ongoing struggles faced by surviving spouses.

Through outreach programs, peer support networks, and national advocacy efforts, Gold Star Spouses of America, Inc. ensures that no spouse is left to navigate their grief and future alone. Our members support services that include memorial ceremonies; community and volunteerism, especially in military and veterans’ hospitals; hold monthly membership meetings; offer social and peer support through local chapter memberships; maintain a national web page and social media resource for support, education and legislative advocacy.

Currently there are over 500,000 surviving military spouses. Gold Star Spouses of America stewards opportunities for advocacy on Capitol Hill with congressional members and has testified before Congress for programs and issues relating to the welfare of surviving military spouses.
